The taxonomy to the right was created to organize the visual resources library used by videos editors creating educational content for high schools.
I wanted to capture the relevant topics as they related to high school curriculum to increase the usefulness of the catalogs for the defined users.
The challenge with this project was to make the terms clear and applicable to the subject matter the users were working with. The terms need to be narrow enough for them to be meaningful while the user is working within a topic, but broad enough to provide a home to each of the thousands of the diverse visual resources used in topics from Art History and Biology to Economics.
Also, I had to be mindful of the click investment in each browsing session and limit the depth of the organization to two levels.
